Cast your mind back to 2019. Squash players around the globe are pining after the Carboflex – Tecnifibre’s ‘teardrop’ shaped squash racket. With names including Elshorbagy, Elsherbini, Hammamy and Gohar using this frame, this was the racket everyone wanted in their bag.
Fast forward to 2020, and a young Mostafa Asal announces he is to sign with the French brand Tecnifibre.
But Mostafa isn’t one to follow the crowd. The Raging Bull has a habit of doing things his own way. This approach to squash spilled over into his choice of racket. Mostafa opted for Tecnifibre’s traditional shaped squash racket, formerly known as the ‘Suprem’.

No top-ranked players had used this racket for a long time. You have to go back as far as Englishman Alister Walker to find a player using the Suprem (minus a short stint in the hands of Gregoire Marche).
Nowadays, take a glance at any junior event – you’ll see kids lining up to get their hands on Mostafa’s racket. The Asal effect is well and truly in full swing, it seems.
Tecnifibre has now given Mostafa his very own ‘signature’ racket. They’ve called it the Slash, and it comes in four variants – 120, 125, 130 and 135 grams.

Hi Rob,
Curious how the Slash range compare to the Head Radical.
Currently using a Radical 120SB. Is there any noticeable differences between that and the Carboflex Slash 120 or even the 125?
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work
Jimmy
